Sexual Health Follow Ups:
A couple of years ago I started to notice that the head of my penis had a few read blotches on it and it was a bit sore. I did put some fungal cream and also tried a bacterial cream, not knowing at the time what it might be. I know, I should have gone to my doctor immediately, but guys, including this one, don't like to see doctors about such things.
It did get better, but it also seemed that after my wife and I had intercourse the symptoms would come back it would get worse again. By the way, when taking a shower each day I would pull the foreskin back and wash well, but I did not leave it pulled back to dry, and hence between the foreskin and the head of my penis it stayed wet/moist.
After a few weeks it was definitely time to see the doctor. He took one look and said I had a yeast fungal infection. He gave me one pill of Diflucan which is used to treat the yeast fungal infection called candidiasis. The doctor also told me that her GYN should check her for a yeast fungal infection as it is passed back and forth between husband and wife during sexual intercourse.
My wife had not indicated any problems like she had in the past when she had a yeast (fungal) infection. She had no burning sensation or the urge to urinate all the time. However, when her GYN did check he did find that she had a yeast fungal infection. He also gave her one pill of Diflocan.
Amazingly within a few days my candidiasis infection symptoms was totally cleared up. We waited two weeks before having sexual intercourse again. Since that time there has been no reocurrance of an candidiasis infection causes in either of us.
I also now keep my foreskin pulled back for a few minutes after taking a shower so that the head of my penis dries off well.
By the way Diflucan is also used to treat fungal infections elsewhere in the body such as the throat, urinary tract, abdomen, pneumonia and also patients with AIDS.
One other point - There are those that maintain you cannot transmit a fungal infection from one partner to an other. All I can say is I know better. Done that, been there.
Hope this helps a bit.
My question was directed towards my daughter and her boyfriend. I know she is seeing only him. I have my doubts about what he may be up to.
I know men can somehow be carriers and re-infect their partner. I have never heard until now that the man can also have discomfort and irritation from this.
Thanks for your imput.
