My boyfriend is 29 years old and has been diagnosed with genital venous leakage. We have tried viagra prescription drug and so far it hasn't worked. At the moment he's trying natural libido remedies (herbs etc) while we save for a constriction device (penis pump). I'm finding our situation very difficult and even though I know this is obviously a medical problem, I still feel awful and sometimes like it's me or my fault. I would like to know how other people have dealt with having a venous leak and what methods they have used, both physically and psychologically.

    Hello Cate,
NO Cate, it is not your fault, and neither is it your boyfriend's fault. YES, he does have a medical problem having genital venous leak vascular disease, and in my opinion he should work with his doctor to try and find a satisfactory solution. Because we all respond differently to medical treatment, it sometimes requires that one try various approaches to solving the problem, so don't give up. Be supportive and understanding to your boyfriend. I know that your support will mean a lot to him.

I have not had this penis erectile problem, so I can't say what is best. I would recommend that your boyfriend seek the advice of a specialist, urologist doctor. He will best be able to help your boyfriend. It is my understanding that penial surgical correction by arterial and/or venous surgery can help, and that there are different techniques, but it requires a medical professional determination of which one is best for each individual.
I wish you both the best.

Erectile dysfunction that responds well to medication is usually related to psychological issues rather than arterial blood flow. When the response to either natural or stimulated arousal results in a soft erection, or one which is quickly lost, the problem is more likely to be venous.
Vascular Disease is the leading cause. Vascular disorders including arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), hypertension, hypercholestremia and other conditions which interfere with the blood flow to the penis. Additionally, "venous leakage" also contributes to poor erections. This condition occurs when the penile veins are unable to constrict efficiently during an erection. When these veins "leak" blood escapes to the periphery resulting in a poor erection.
