When I was 32/33 I had a vasectomy, when I was 67 I had cancer of the prostate. They had to remove the prostate.
My question is, do my testis still produce sperm and can it be extracted then used to inseminate my wife. I am now 69 and she is 35. We would very much like to have a child.
I have read when artificial insemination is done there is a chance of downs syndrome, is this true?

Extracting sperm directly from the male reproductive organ might be an option. After harvesting sperm from testicular tissue, a single microscopic sperm is injected into a single microscopic egg. If an embryo forms, it is implanted into the woman’s uterine wall and allowed to grow.
Various techniques for extracting sperm from a man's reproductive organs have been perfected. Although technical advances in assisted reproduction have dramatically improved the conception rates, the success rates for the two procedures combined—sperm extraction followed by injection of the sperm into the egg—is less than 50%.
Down's syndrome (The affected child will have mild to moderate mental retardation), which is a congenital disorder that is usually caused by the presence of an extra 21st chromosome.
Modern genetics allows us to understand how genetic diseases are inherited based on DNA, genes, and chromosomes. We can now test couples and fetuses for certain inherited disorders, as well as other chromosomal and genetic abnormalities such as neural tube defects, Down's syndrome, and cystic fibrosis.
You and your wife should consider genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis before conception to predict effects and any possible abnormalities in your child. Click to find a therapist near you
